Potted flowers for morale + updates

Potted stripey petunias and some pansies this morning, to try to make the front more appealing. Hope for the future!

Petunias now beginning to flower -  I do like the stripey and flowery ones.

Poor galpini and honeysuckle in the drought + update

The poor plants have yellowed somewhat in the drought. I've tried to keep the soil moist with waterings a couple of times per week, but I think deep down below the soil, there isn't much for the roots to drink.

Compared to the way it looked this time last year, it's struggling. There was one flower recently, and I notice a few buds now, but it's looking desparate. Apparently rain is expected next weekend.

How it looked earlier this year (Jan, 5):

Puddy company

Taffy on my lap during an afternoon nap on the verandah.

Three girls with me watching tv! Tiina was outside.

Tiina, relishing in sleeping on my bed, every morning -

Cool gardening blog, and House and Garden UK website

The writer of this blog spent some time at a London hotel called 'Ham Yard'. It struck me that the decor reminded me of my own - multi-patterns and textures (photos below).

I also found through her the H&G UK website - some lovely inspiring pics.

I'm going to work hard to recreate something similar (to the Ham Yard) at my place, on my land. (I don't care about 'over-capitalising' as it's for me and mine to enjoy).

I need to paint my kitchen table a nice grey!

I need a dovecote!

Grey water hoses + update

In this terrible drought, I am trying to reuse some of the washing water from the machine.

Bought two 10m hoses today (Ekka holiday) from Bunnings and fiddled with them to get them to work. It does, but I have to secure the coupling from the machine's hose or there is yet another flood inside.

Otherwise, it seems to work but I need another 10m hose, to reach other parts of the garden, at the R Rd end. I will get that on the weekend, when I will have to do more laundry.

Bought the extra 20m hose on the weekend, and connected it. Worked well. Hopefully it makes a difference to my plants.

Ekka public holiday

A day off! Brilliant

I wish I could have spent all day doing this (below), but I had to pay off Ashley
and also run around with Mum, which was trying as the traffic was so heavy.
Spent about two minutes doing the sitting thing, below.

And how about this nonsense? Talk about a dictatorship!

New quilt cover

Was busting to get this very cheap ($18) B&W floral quilt cover from KMart, but could only get it from KM at Toowong. so trawled over there for it. It was a good experiment for me to drive over there to see how to get there.

Stopped for coffee of course.

This is it - looks better in the photo - in actuality it is rather a faded grey, instead of a proper black.

And here is lovely baby Tems sitting on it, and matching!
