Grey water hoses + update

In this terrible drought, I am trying to reuse some of the washing water from the machine.

Bought two 10m hoses today (Ekka holiday) from Bunnings and fiddled with them to get them to work. It does, but I have to secure the coupling from the machine's hose or there is yet another flood inside.

Otherwise, it seems to work but I need another 10m hose, to reach other parts of the garden, at the R Rd end. I will get that on the weekend, when I will have to do more laundry.

Bought the extra 20m hose on the weekend, and connected it. Worked well. Hopefully it makes a difference to my plants.

Ekka public holiday

A day off! Brilliant

I wish I could have spent all day doing this (below), but I had to pay off Ashley 

and also run around with Mum, which was trying as the traffic was so heavy.

New quilt cover

Was busting to get this very cheap ($18) B&W floral quilt cover from KMart, but could only get it from KM at Toowong. so trawled over there for it. It was a good experiment for me to drive over there to see how to get there.

Stopped for coffee of course.

This is it - looks better in the photo - in actuality it is rather a faded grey, instead of a proper black.

And here is lovely baby Tems sitting on it, and matching!

House worth

House appears to have gone up by $20,000 in estimate, in about a year!

Palms grown, land brown and dry

We have not had rain for weeks and weeks. I noticed this morning that my palms had grown (mostly thanks to my watering, I believe).

This was them last year - 

I believe they have grown taller since then, although the ground is so dry.

Its easy to compare how green it was, this time a year and more ago, by comparison. I have never seen it so dry as it is here before. Awful.

12 Oct 2019 -  At last, some substantial rain, and the garden is soaking it up. I reckon it will be green again (the lawn) in days.

Garden views

I'm trying to decide whether this looks potentially good or bloody rotten, but I think all will be improved with paint and with plants growing round everything. This will take some time, unfortunately.

Looks quite brown due to lack of rain. I struggle to keep them all watered.

Late winter bloomings

The first flowers on my May bush. Still so tiny in the yard.

Virtually unnoticeable, as yet! I'm hoping the tree goes big, strong, obstructive (of the road view) and full of flowers!

The pink flower below - it was gratifying to see her as I have had it in the ground for so long with little result. To see these made me hopeful. There hasn't been much rain although I've been watering the plants irregularly.

The first flower this season on the very dry looking galpinii vine. It's so dry - no rain for ages. It's a year since it flowered for the first time.

Looking decidedly browner and more struggling, the galpinii has one flower showing today 25 Sept 2018.

And the front fence at this section - I'm pleased to white bougy is growing ok. Would like to see more blue plumbago showing next to it. I cut out the lower branches, hoping to encourage taller growth - it seems to be coming along albeit slowly.

Ooo! Here's something unusual growing out of the potting mix packets! Taffy!
