Fav pics this month

Purple carpet

Mum's jacaranda in her front garden has strewn its annual flowers all over the yard as usual. It is always so pretty a spread.

One day, mine will do this too, I hope.

For updates on the progress of this tree, see HERE and HERE.

Walkie - hippiastrum - Bought!

Saw these on my walkie yesterday - they are lovely although I prefer the blood red colour.

Will look for some of these to plant. (Found them 5 Nov 2017, at local markets - see below!)

Bought these red ones at the local Sunday market at Ipswich, 22 Oct:

Bought some more from the market on Sunday 5 Nov, 2017:

Big blousey blossoms

Jacobean Lily (Sprekelia formosissima) or Aztec Lily or Mexican Fire Lily - first flower!

Also known as the St James Lily, it is said to resemble the insignia of the ‘Knight of St James’.

Just flowered in the garden this morning. Jeanette Meiers gave me these - I adore the colour! I hope they spread lots.

They are related to hippeastrum species. Care details HERE. Apparently they can be left for years in the same place, so that's what I will do - maybe move some to the side front garden.

Update: Second flower 27 Oct 2017:

Feels like so much longer ago than a week since the first flower came up!
