Fire place - this is the one I would like

 Bunnings $799

I must investigate having one installed, with a wood basket beside, and a hearth!'

Electrical upgrade

Alinta Energy arranged for an electrician to come and give me an updated meter instead of the old one. Bloke called Brad, his own business, based in Hattonvale. Said he was replacing meters in many older houses around this area.

Made myself a driveway ramp!

I raked and sorted and slaved. Got stones and made a ramp, put the old sides of the bedroom chest of drawers on the top, and lo! managed to drive the car in without incident. It worked!

I have tried to position grass divets and rocks so that they help the slippery ramp to stay put.

For the first time here, my car is parked on a proper carport slab! The carport and shed probably won't go up for about another two weeks, but still, I am grateful that I am able to do this. Eventually, the raking and shovelling will be over, and I can start gardening again on the top part of the garden. I will make it all pretty with creepers and so on.

Espalier the fig on the back of the shed, I think, or maybe the carport, as I want the back of the shed to be useful for a potting area, hopefully.

Car on slab from the side -

Later in the afternoon, after my nap, the girls came outside with me to enjoy the twilight. I had trimming, raking and things to do as well. I think they will like sitting in a carport.

Retaining wall goes in (behind shed)

These are photos from yesterday morning (Thurs, 27 Aug). Alex of TPG Constructions came round with his helper Baydon to start building me a retaining wall behind the shed. Some drainage will have to go in, as well as fixing up the driveway to the carport. Jeez - money.

I used up a few hours morning time shovelling fill over the back garden. The pile of dirt is getting smaller.

The slab drying out

They reckon it takes up to two weeks for it to dry properly. You can still see the damp splotches on it rising from the inner slab.

I am going to have buy some car ramps for the car to get up to it from the driveway and road.

Slab - from this to this

Photos, going back in time to the changing views of this space before slab.

I can put the staircase to the right side of the shed, in the place where one day there will be two slim-line water tanks, sat on a concrete base.

I have a slab for the shed and carport!

First views of the slab at one end of the property. Of course, it won't always be just a slab - the shed will go up soon - in about a week.

Teenie is the first kitty to give it a whirl.

Dusk view. I am to keep the slab damp for a week. It fits in well in the space.
