Sideline benefits of gardening

I have met so many nice people through gardening. The latest is Sascha who lives at Blacksoil, and who has offered to loan me her mulcher, in return for my free offering of dragonfruit cuttings.

8 March, 2019 -

I went round to Sasha's and they loaned me a mulcher today. I went over to Blacksoil to collect it and 'do' the load of arborist mulch (the bigger sticks which were in the first lot), the clips from the big bougainvillea legs, and some of the dead passionfruit vine.

Well the vine lengths did not chop so well, so I have had to relegate them to the bin. Perhaps when they are dry in a longer time they would chop up, but I don't want to wait that long, as they look a mess in the yard.

The long bougy sticks weren't chopped as well as I would have liked, but they were mashed pretty well, so I put them through a couple of times, and then threw them onto the mulch pile.

The bits of woody mulch that were too big for before were chopped quite well to size this time, and I put it all on the garden beds. It's a thick woody mulch but with some green added, I think will do well.

I feel very good that I have managed to use all of that mulch from Mum's garden, and now need to buy a mulcher!

I think the veggie patch is growing quite well at the moment, although I am looking forward to more sunshine, and some tomatoes.
