Driveway

From THIS a day or so ago, to this... Some road base put down, and I feel better about the slope.

Brian, the engineer, came round this morning...

 ...to assess my site and recommend how they move forward in enclosing this area, as part of the house. He took a few photos and said he would 'organise Shane'.

Hell of a lot of mess. It's amazing how much dirt can come out of a small hole.

Ashley will use the soil to level off the 'table' of the garden after the wall is constructed.

I've made a mistake - the steps should be twice as wide. Oh dear. What will Ashley say?


Ugliness. Power pole, container (at least it's not orange!), and piles of dirt!

I think the steps are too pokey and narrow for the size of the pergola, leading to the feature rainforest garden, like THIS, Dennis Hundscheidt's place.

Digging for retaining wall, and steps

Winter morning, and this is what I woke to see. Monoliths, everywhere! It looks ugly just now, but I trust Ashley to make everything look good. With a little more tweaking and paint, it will all be good. The worst part, is the paying for it!

Fortunately it became a beautiful sunny morning, and quite warm.

Pavers pulled up for driveway gravel. Note new gates!

The scene as I left for work. They come back in a couple days to complete the job, until next time (carport and shed in a few months, in Spring). meantime, I will get that top level of the garden looking good (hedge) as far as I can with the container in the way. The sooner that goes the better. Come on Stephensens.

Oh I don't know how I am going to cope with such a rise in the driveway...

Pergola and carport

Ashley wants to get on and put up my pergola and carport.

Unfortunately, not much can be done until that container is out of the way.

So it is just going to be the pergola for now.

In the meantime, here is Ashley and Matt working on the footings and retaining wall for the pergola.
