Curlews at work

Lovely little curlew pair sitting on an egg.

I can't tell you how any kids I've had to yell at to get them to leave the birds alone and leave them be. Despite the orange fencing, put up by Mike, the workman, to warn them away from the area, they just want to hurl stones, sticks, toys and objects at them. What is wrong with these kids? Finally, after the end of third term holiday break, the chick has hatched! They are gorgeous, but still the brats in Yr 8 threw books at them, out of the Library window. Honestly, disgusting behaviour.

My first flat-pack assembly

Last Sunday, I put together Mum's new chest of drawers. It was a major ordeal and many fruity words were uttered. However, I won in the end. Took me four hours.

Today we moved the chest into Mum's bedroom, getting rid of the old one. It looks much better and suits her room.

Waiting for a skylight

For a month now I have been told by the skylight installer (Williams Skylights - Grant Williams) that he would come to install my skylight in the back room. Twice there has been some excuse. I got up early this morning to prepare the room with drop sheets to catch the bits of plaster from the ceiling cut-out, and put all my ironing mess on my bed.

And lo! He doesn't come today - he's sick, apparently (he sounded it on the phne too). So, another to weeks to wait. So annoying.

I am very pleased with the look of the bright bougainvillea growing on the front fence, and the contrast with the white of the house. Also celebrating the first purple petrea flower on my new vine!
