Building mess!

Lots of dust and mess in the yard! Oh well - easily cleaned up and fixed, eventually, and the grass will regrow.

Second foggy morning so far this year (Autumn, Winter).

I want to use the above bricks to make a path in the garden. Two blocks equals one stepping stone, as it were, like THIS.

This mess is from Ashley's unfinished business!

The next day (30 May), 7.30am, and 4 degrees C - I'm also tired of working late and up early with these guys arrival!
It's very dry - the grass is looking brown - we haven't had a good rain for ages. I watered long and well last night but I still think we need some good water from above.

I think the garden will recover ok after the assault. It all regrows. The weather makes a difference too - once it's warm again and cleaned up, things will look better. A bit of rain would help things along...but not till my reno is finished!

It gets worse as the days go on...this is from the 30th May...

Gumleaves in the concrete path

Following THIS post from yesterday, Rick the Foreman sprinkled the gum leaves on the wet concrete of the path, as I asked, similar to Churchie's path, which is so pleasant.

Today I asked Cec if something like this could be built with my left-over timber from the slats.

How good would it be if I could go up, and cover that awful power-pole. I think that one is called 'Moira', as it's closest to me. 

The other two, which are closer to each other, have been dubbed 'Jenny' (on the other side of the road), and 'Anne' - the one closer to Mum's.

The concrete dries and the path is laid

Cec directs operations and trains the apprentice (Dylan) and the work-experience youngster (Luke, who schools at St. Edmunds):

I've asked Rick, the foreman, to put the eucalypt leaves on the wet concrete of the path later day. He has agreed to do this for me. I left him with a bunch of leaves which I brought home last night after tearing them off a tree in Oaklands Parade, near the kindergarten.

A little bit of 'Churchie' at home - there's a path near the Library which has this effect - the leaves from the overhanging tree must have fallen off and sprinkled on the path at some stage when it was wet. It looks lovely (see below).
